Your Destiny – New Year – New You

Just 50 days ago many of us made a commitment or two that 2015 would be 'my year', the best yet. Pumped up and exuberant, we leapt into the new year full of hope.

What is hope? A feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.
Without hope life can be bleak indeed as we thrive on the belief that things will get better.

  • Consider your health, without it we’ve got very little. Taking care of our bodies like it’s a business, creating an awareness like no other. The flip-side is the body may be soon out of business! You may be thinking, yeah but I’ve tried the diets, attempted the exercise and frankly nothing works, ending up where I started, or in a worse state. How did that happen?
  • How about your career? Feel like you’re on the treadmill in a pointless pursuit of the promotion, pay rise or a little acknowledgement and coming up short.
  • Then there’s the relationships, enduring the ups and downs of the friends, family or with the one person we thought was meant to make us happy. Not so happy and yet can’t quite put our finger on why?

How is it in just a few weeks the hopeful has shifted to hopeless, floundering our way into February? It’s time to take stock as those promising New Year pledges begin to fade into memories or worse still...abandoned.

Take a look around, what do you see? Is it what’s physically before you? Depending on where you are it could be the view, the trees, the cute dog, or people you’re with or checking out! OR is your like looking in the rear view mirror, with past experiences taking centre stage, oblivious to the current reality of what is in fact in front of you?


If you’ve had enough of feeling frustrated with where to start, then seize the moment.


Are you on the continual searching cycle, in hope of coming across some information that has potential to unlock you, energise and empower you to get on course? Why continue to repeat, repeat and repeat more of the same?

We possess the power to start over, any day when we choose. When we were tiny, life was full of wonder. There was no conscious thought about if we would or wouldn’t walk, we just did it, and with plenty of encouragement from those looking on in awe. 

Then there’s the professional sportsmen and women. They’re just like us, 100% human. This is what Michael Jordan NBA Hall of Fame had to say.

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed”



Feeling like we’re winning in life is a series of moments coming together.


Think of this little like the distance markers along the country road, letting you know you’re another kilometre closer to your destination. And then you arrive at the destination, rest, refuel and decide on the next destination and embark on the journey yet again.

In that moment, there is the potential to see life as full or delight, seeing what’s ahead for what it is, not what was.
