The truth is simple. Happiness is a pursuit, a work in progress, the journey, often made complex.

Everyday, we're trying to find our way, seeking a better understanding of the meaning of our lives. At times we ache to uncover and discover what is special about ourselves, finding happiness and sense of peace with this along the way.

For some, the key to these desires ring loud and clear, driving what we do and how we do it. And for others, deep seeded needs are buried below the noise of daily life, rarely addressed.

One thing I know for sure is as I navigate the pursuit of my own path to happiness and get curious about the lives of other great people, a few many common themes emerge.

Happiness is not something you design for the future, it is something you design for the present.
— Jim Rohn

In all cases, the happiness these greats discovered and gradually integrated internally is seeded by the realization of certain fundamental truths.

Just 8 common themes ...

  1. We were born with everything we need.

  2. Perfection is an illusion.

  3. Only we can define ourselves to express ourselves fully.

  4. The past and the future don't exist, only the present.

  5. Challenges are our gifts for growth.

  6. Forgiveness is choosing happiness over hurt.

  7. Surrender is the essence of a happy life.

  8. Give more ourselves to receive the beautiful energy that feeds our happiness

It seems we are all here to realize these truths, in our own way, in our own time. Once we resonate fully, not just intellectually, but emotionally and spiritually, we're able to find the happiness and peace we seek.

The scientific research tells us 'happy people' live longer, get more of what they want, live healthier lives, and achieve more of their goals.

If you want to be happy, be.
— Leo Tolstoy
